Cheyenne Moran Named OII's 2022 Insurance Educator of the Year


On Oct. 4, 2022, the Ohio Insurance Institute honored Cheyenne Moran with the 2022 Insurance Educator of the Year Award for excellence in insurance and financial literacy education.

Moran is a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Miami East High School in Casstown, OH. She was selected for the award for her creative and innovative teaching style, even incorporating scavenger hunts and escape rooms into her insurance curriculum. Moran covers auto, health, life, renters, disability, and cancer insurance with her students. She helps her students understand these various types of insurance and how to apply them in their own lives.

Moran was honored at an awards dinner held during OII’s Annual Meeting. She received an engraved recognition plaque, a $1,000 check, and an Ohio Insurance Institute grant of $500 to take an insurance-related workshop. The OII will also make a $500 donation to Miami East High School.

Moran earned a bachelor’s degree in human and consumer sciences and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Ohio University.
