Faith Bordonaro Named OII's 2021 Insurance Educator of the Year

On Oct. 5, 2021, the Ohio Insurance Institute honored Faith Bordonaro with the 2021 Insurance Educator of the Year Award for excellence in insurance and financial literacy education.

Bordonaro teaches mathematics and personal finance at Andrews Osborne Academy in Willoughby, OH. She was selected for the award for her work in her Finance and Efficiency course where she teaches students about banking, finance and insurance. In her class, students learn about the different types of insurance and how insurance needs can change over time, so they can become more informed consumers.

“It's a true pleasure to teach Finance and Efficiency to juniors and seniors to prepare them for life after high school,” Bordonaro said.

Bordonaro was honored at an awards dinner held during OII’s Annual Meeting. She received an engraved recognition plaque, a $1,000 check, and an Ohio Insurance Institute grant of $500 to take an insurance-related course. The OII will also make a $500 donation to Andrews Osborne Academy.

Bordonaro, a native of Grafton, WV, attended Virginia Tech and earned her B.S in Math Education. She is currently working toward a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Cleveland State University.
