Tim Gannatti Named OII's 2024 Insurance Educator of the Year
CINCINNATI, OH – In an event Friday at Ursuline Academy, Ohio Insurance Institute President and CEO Dean Fadel honored Tim Gannatti with the 2024 Insurance Educator of the Year award for excellence in insurance education.
“By making insurance concepts a central focus of his financial literacy curriculum, Mr. Gannatti is helping to ensure that students are prepared for the many financial decisions they will make as adults, and potentially opening their eyes to a rewarding future career,” said Fadel. “We’re proud to highlight the important work he’s doing for Ohio students and honor him with this award.”
As Ohio’s premier trade organization for property and casualty insurance companies throughout the state of Ohio, the Ohio Insurance Institute believes in the importance of promoting insurance education throughout the state. The Insurance Educator of the Year award recognizes Ohio high school teachers who surpass expectations by delivering insurance concepts in dynamic and engaging ways.
Gannatti was nominated by a colleague, who explained how he is fostering an understanding of how insurance products work and their significance by offering “concrete examples of how insurance will impact and contribute to the future lives of students… Ursuline has a saying that, ‘We learn not for school, but for life.’ Tim’s work in financial literacy and insurance is helping students do just that.”
“Congratulations to Tim Gannatti on this well-deserved award,” Ursuline Principal Kristen Kocheck Rojas said. “Mr. Gannatti goes above and beyond to prepare our young women for life beyond the classroom, empowering them to become leaders and achievers. We are grateful for the Ohio Insurance Institute for recognizing Mr. Gannatti’s entrepreneurial approach to teaching, and we look forward to his many successes ahead!”
As part of the award, Gannatti will receive a cash prize of $1,500 and an additional $500 will be awarded to Ursuline Academy. The award also includes reimbursement of course fees for successfully completing a future graduate-credit workshop or course designed for high school teachers.
Gannatti teaches personal finance, business and science courses at Ursuline Academy. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and his Master of Education from Xavier University. He also serves as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Ursuline Academy is an academically rigorous, all-girls independent Catholic college preparatory high school founded in 1896 by the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County, Ohio.
